About Costa Rica
This Central Americal jewel of a country is nestled between Nicaragua in the north and Panama in the south. Costa Rica
lies between the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Caribbean Sea to the east. It has spectacular scenery.
Costa Rica is a nature lover's dream come true. Oceans, beaches ranging from brown volcanic to pure white with lots of
space. Some beaches are great for surfing while other are better for acqua diving and snorkeling. You will find tourist
hot spots and other places that are simple, clean and quiet where you can enjoy the view. There are hills and mountains,
volcanoes where you can enjoy thermally heated nature pools.
The wildlife is just spectacular with Beautiful Fauna and Flora- ocelots, sloaths, huge butterflies, tucans and other
colorful birds, and many varieties of monkeys, just to name a few. In fact Costa Rica is home to over four hundred
types of birds and over one hundred species of mammals. It has the greatest density of species in the world.
There are tropical forests and rainforests (cloudforests), waterfalls abound - it is truly a paradise on earth. There
are many national parks and protected areas and ecotourism is very popular.
It's just a great place for a vacation and there's so much to explore and discover. From white-river
rafting and ziplining over tropical treetops to just hanging out at the beach, Costa Rica has lots to offer everyone. The
Spanish phrase "pura vida" (pure life) which is a normal greeting in Costa Rica, perfectly describes the place.
The prices are very affordable and you can enjoy home grown coffee, bananas, pineapples, etc. The overall cost of
living is cheap for people from North America. Costa Rica is a very peaceful place, in fact it was the first country in
the world to abolish the army by way of its constitution. English is taught at school and Costa Ricans enjoy a high
literacy rate.
